Finalist, Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition, National Portrait Gallery,March 23, 2013 - February 23, 2014

I am so happy to announce that my painting, "Legacy: Portrait of Val" is a finalist in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition and will be included in the OBPC exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, in Washington D.C. The show runs a full 11 months, March 23, 2013 - February 23, 2014. Please come and enjoy this magnificent museum and, to judge from the 2006 and 2009 interations of this competition, it will be very audience-friendly and full of amazingly competent and sympathetic work.

The museum's permanent collection is full of wonderful art about notable personages throughout the history of our country. I am honored to have my work hang in the National Portrait Gallery among all the wonderful and historical images that I love and learn from.

An 80-page publication illustrating each of the 48 finalists’ works will be available in the museum store Saturday, March 23. It includes an essay by Mary Sheriff, the W.R. Kenan, Jr. distinguished Professor of Art History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Tour the exhibition, listen to interviews, get inside information, and vote for your favorite portrait for the People's Choice Award with the OBPC mobile app! Available for iOS and Android. Download the app at npg.si.edu/app.
